General information about cocoa
Cocoa beans are the seeds of the cacao tree, which originates from South or Central America. As early as the 14th century, the Aztecs appreciated the value of raw cacao and called it the “food of the gods”.
We all know that cocoa is extremely delicious. But that is by no means all.
In recent years, the cocoa bean has been widely studied for its valuable ingredients. So far, more than 300 effective substances have been found.

Valuable antioxidants and trace elements
Cocoa provides many trace elements and is also a valuable source of antioxidants.
Cocoa is particularly rich in flavonoids, which can, among other things, increase blood circulation and bring nutrients from our RECOVERY SHAKE quickly to the muscle cells. Flavonoids also protect against free radicals as antioxidants.
Cocoa is further rich in vitamin E, zinc and iron: Vitamin E also serves as an effective antioxidant, while zinc and iron support a healthy immune system, among other things.
Theobromine for muscle relaxation
Like caffeine, theobromine contained in cocoa belongs to the group of so-called methylxanthines. Theobromine is thus closely related to caffeine, but it is characterized by a milder and permanently stimulating effect.
Theobromine can enhance the effect of certain messenger substances in the human organism, which leads to smooth muscle relaxation and inhibits inflammation. The health benefits of methylxanthines in cocoa are currently being further investigated in various studies.
Cocoa is rich in naturally contained potassium, which is essential for glycogen storage and positively supports regeneration.
Cocoa also has a high content of magnesium, its magnesium content is similar to that of pumpkin seeds. Magnesium supports normal energy metabolism and contributes to the reduction of fatigue and tiredness, as well as normal muscle function.
One study shows a measurable reduction in an inflammatory parameter (CK) after consuming natural cocoa following intense athletic training.
